Water treatment

Water treatment

The journey of water from the source to customer’s tap is long and complicated. Water collected from natural sources, underground or surface, may contain contaminants, which should be removed before water enters the water supply network. Because of that raw water is piped to a water treatment plant where it is treated by mechanical, chemical-biologic and chemical processes in order to meet all legal drinking water quality standards.

In the area operated by Vodakva, there are not enough quality underground water resources. Therefore drinking water is made 89% from the surface water sources; the rest of 11% is underground water. Vodakva operates 21 water treatment plants, the most important of these are Březová (Stanovice reservoir), Žlutice (Žlutice reservoir), Svobodka (Lučina reservoir), Plavno (Plavno creek), Milíkov (Mže river) and Myslivny (Myslivny reservoir).
